   SAFE AS HOUSES. margot baran is a monster. and what she'd like, is for you to trust her. not quite a boogeyman and not any kind of garish ghoul, she's not any kind of monster you read about in stories, though it's more than likely that you've crossed paths with her before. that extra bit of shadow, the one that seems to shift at the very end of the hall as you turn your head. that sensation that something is staring at you from beyond the inky crack of the closet door. but margot's particular breed of monster would rather you not be scared, would rather you get comfy and relax. the more a person learns to ignore that niggling sensation that comes whenever margot is near, the stronger she ultimately becomes (strong enough to snap spines, strong enough to leave nothing but bits and bones when she's done). conversely, the more you fear her, the more you trust your instincts and know something's wrong, the weaker and more human she becomes. needless to say if someone manages to best her, properly best her, then they win. then she dies. |
